French actress Marion Cotillard will preside over the jury of the 23rd Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM), from 20 to 28 November 2026. The festival made the announcement in Rabat on 13 October.

A competition for new filmmakers

The FIFM international competition is open only to first and second feature films. From among them, Marion Cotillard's jury will choose the winner of the Étoile d'or, the festival's highest award.

"Supporting filmmakers in their first steps is an important act. It is the DNA of this festival, and it is a great joy for me to preside over its jury this year."

The actress knows Marrakech well: she has been coming to the festival since its very beginnings and says she has had "wonderful moments" there.

From Taxi to Hollywood

Trained at the Conservatoire d'art dramatique in Paris, Marion Cotillard became known to a wide audience with Taxi in 1998. Her role as Édith Piaf in La Vie en Rose (Olivier Dahan, 2007) won her the Oscar for Best Actress in 2008. It was the first time a performance in French won an acting Oscar. The same role also earned her the César, the Golden Globe and the BAFTA.

She went on to work with Tim Burton, Michael Mann, Christopher Nolan (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises), Woody Allen and Jacques Audiard. Two Days, One Night by the Dardenne brothers brought her another Oscar nomination in 2015. More recently, she appeared in Leos Carax's Annette, Mona Achache's Little Girl Blue and the fourth season of the series The Morning Show.

She will soon be seen in Guillaume Canet's Karma, Bertrand Mandico's Roma Elastica and Nicole Garcia's Milo. She is currently shooting Emmanuelle Bercot's L'Enragé.
